Salokyam is wonderful to hear (thanks for sharing it btw, have never heard anyone mention it before or quite possibly I’ve been living under a rock!).
Loved all your posts on Indian classical music for children.
Growing up, we listened to a lot of MS’ music (loved the Ganesha Pancharatnam), Maharajapuram Santhanam’s Oothukadu songs and Kunnakudi Vaidyanathan’s magical bowing. D.K.Pattamal’s (and Nithyashree’s) renditions of Bharathiar songs were also much liked (we loved the fact that we could understand the lyrics and sometimes even sing along!) . My first introduction to music however was ‘Chinna Chinna Slogangal’ by Prema Hariharan (?) – it’s a long time now, so not sure if it’s available.
Can I also suggest MLV’s Thaalatu Paadalgal – it is a wonderful collection of tamil lullabies and has been around for a long time.
Some children may also like listening to Bhogindra Sayinam, a lovely composition by Swati Tirunal.
Feel free to do a post if you think the comment is informative (although my knowledge on carnatic music is nowhere near extensive – I’m the uninitiated listener !)

One album on the shelves now that a lot of children seem to enjoy listening to is Subiksha Rangarajan’s Daily Bhajans. Here’s a link: http://www.raaga.com/channels/sanskrit/moviedetail.asp?mid=S0000177
I hope Boo and Starry eyed are reading this!
I will do a post of your comment, if you don’t mind and then maybe more people will read it
