Dear A

Dear A,

Who asked you to invite people over for dinner on our wedding anniversary?
To make up to me you have to start singing again.
Or else.

In school you sang to me in snatches, very quietly, so that no one else would hear. The King of Wishful Thinking, Unchained Melody, It Must Have Been Love , The Music of the Night and Stand by Me.

You know that line in the Music of the Night- “Silently the senses abandon their defences?” Well, I abandoned my senses every time you sang it!

Now to mark the occasion of fifteen years of togetherness and five years of matrimony, holy and unholy, please start singing again.

But, I also want to say I love you very much. Thanks for putting up with me all this time. As you said yesterday, we’ve come so far and we love each other even more now than when you were 15 and I was 16.

We’ve been through pain, hurt, struggle, tears and penniless days, but ultimately the love and laughter have won out.

Thanks for finding my new gray hair sexy. I hope you feel the same when I am 85 and ALL my hair is gray.

I love you.

Such a pretty hand as you have :) May you keep holding hands together forever! Happy anniversary! LOLing at unholy matrimony…so what did he sing you after this post??

    • August 23, 2010

Nothing. We just, um practised some more unholy matrimony. He doesn’t feel the need to woo me any more with his voice :(

Hearty congratulations Uttara. This one photo made me so curious . Iwant to see you both.
    You saree looks lovely.

I can understand your emotions . 20 years is a long time and I can relate your grey hair statement. When my husband started getting grey hair , I felt the transition from college boy friend to a grown up person.

Wishing you guys all the best for this year and many many years to come . Hugs from two tiny hand (my son) and not so tiny hand (myself). I hope we will able to see your face when you are 85 right?

CS, its fifteen years not twenty :)
Thanks for the compliments about the sari and for the best wishes and for the hugs-hugs right back to you and your son
So you married your college sweetheart?
As for us-we look ordinary! If I’m still blogging when I’m 85 I will definitely put a picture on the blog :)

Hearty congratulations! Our birthdays are together, and the anniversaries not too far apart. As for our age … the difference is best left unsaid :)

The next time I am in Bangalore, I hope to convince you to start blogging again. You need to write, woman (I don’t care if that sounds disrespectful of our “vast” age difference).
      Happy anniversary!

Wishing you more happy days ahead! Blogging at 85 = 2060+. I wonder if we’d use wordpress/blogger thought-processors to blog our with filtering/editing capabilities as well).

    uttara,

hee hee I realised it was your 5th anniversary and not tenth the moment I posted my comments. I get to read blogs when I drink my morning cuppa with my two year old sitting on my lap. Weekends he usually plays with his dad but yesterdau came running to our office . Our desktop, laptops, IPad everything is monopolised by him. He doesn’t throw tantrums but he has his sweet way of controlling me. (kisses, kisses and only kisses when he wants anything and everything). So I posted my comments quickly before he s tarted playing with the keyboard.

I have a blog too .Google the name from my email. Do you have a email I can write too ?

Ooh! An anniversary! Hope you had a wonderful time (despite the guests!) :) Many many many more happy returns, you two love-bugs :)

    • August 24, 2010

Thanks :) I like your description of us. Better than being a bugging love, eh?

  16. August 25, 2010

    Happy Anniversary.

A very sweet and poignant post.

The photograph makes me greedy for more – do post some more photos please!

Agree with Achala – the saree is beautiful.

Thanks Anu. you like headless photos?

      • August 26, 2010

Will take them. I do understand the need to “anonymize” the photos – so you could either blur the faces or choose to go headless!
