Arms vs chicken legs

2010 July 18

Going to they gym hasn’t helped me put on weight yet, but it has certainly helped my arms look less stick like.
My arms are a sensitive subject. I’ve always been teased about them. When I was a child other children would make rings around my arms with their fingers and laugh at how skinny they were-not maliciously, but it was a sore point.
Quite a few years ago a random man on the road in London referred to me as a skeleton (I was wearing a sleeveless top on that day).
I have always referred to my arms as chicken legs.
But these days there is a small improvement and I’m HAPPY.
A took a photograph a couple of weeks ago that has my arms in focus. It makes me feel positive when I look at it. People may still think my arms look like sticks, but I know and those near and dear me know, that my arms have changed.
I have a small amount of bicep action going on. Yay!

I have bye-bye arms. You know, the ones when your whole upper arm jiggles when you wave goodbye. Chicken arms sound pretty good to me right now :)

Just use Tarana and Ayaan as weights, you’ll have them toned in no time :)

That sounds good! Show them off a bit more. I too need to work on my upper arms – to reduce the flab :)

You are worrying about the wrong things .Take it from me.It is very very tough to burn away those calories , once they arrive .Calories that come in the way of your bending and lifting , sliding into seats , walking through narrow aisles, jumping onto buses , sliding into a railway berth , climbing steps …….
The miseries of being overweight , overweigh the disadvantages ( pun intended) of being skinny , by a huge Tonne.
Count your blessings , as they are , and be happy :)

Coolji, not that I want to be overweight, but I don’t want to be a stick either:). Also my arms were/are very weak-they needed more strength

Better that than jiggly arms, trust me. You trying to gain weight and me trying to lose. Wish there was some easy way to share :)

Sometime ago we had been to the Sankara Math at Sringeri and seconds before we were to have Darshan of the Swamiji , My wife realised she was not wearing any bangles.Hastily , her sister-in-law removed her own thick gold bangles and slid them down the not-so-slender wrists of my wife.
Darshan over , the bangles refus ed to come out . My wife got hurt in the process of all the trials , to coax them out.( the generous sister-in-law ,now , slowly gettin edgy as we drove back to our hometown .
I kept joking that my wife was playing up to retain the bangles , for herself.
As we crossed a small town called NR Pura ( you must visit these places someday with your camera)
I noticed that the weekly village buyer-seller fair ( Santhey we call it in Kannada) was in full flow .
I had a brainwave and went searching for the bangle seller.
And there he was , with a row of ladies , sitting on their haunches waiting for their turn.It was such a glorious sight to see my wife take her position among them and offer her hand , when her turn came. All the villagers were giggling as the seller started sqeezing her hand. And Lo ! in a flash he had the bangles out .
My wife bought a great deal from him that evening – he had a windfall of sorts .
But that particular days event may never happen with you , I guess :)

I’ve been to Sringeri-we went on a school expedition. Those were the heady first days of young love between A and me, so I will never forget. There were these marvellous nadawarams playing in the temple…
As for bangles, I have the opposite problem! I hate how they roll down on to my hand!
