The problem is that when the raga is sung, the singers don&#039;t always actually sing the &lt;em&gt;names &lt;/em&gt;of the notes so we can compare them (they do sing the names of notes in specific contexts, but more on that later), one just has to &quot;hear&quot; the different komal rishabhs when they are singing in aalaap (i.e. going &quot;aaaaa&quot;). But there are videos I&#039;ve found showing the use of microtones (including the different komal rishabhs) on a sarod with the notes sung as well.
