On a reunion
Meeting an old, dear, dear friend one hasn’t met for a long time can be quite overwhelming. Two nights ago I met her, in the city where our friendship had been forged. Tears flowed, much laughter and excitement ensued. And, er, I threw up (fortunately not on my friend, but in the toilet). This is exactly how a pug I know once reacted, on seeing me after many years. He ran round and round my legs excitedly, tail wagging desperately and then vomited.
I think it was a combination of firang stomach meets India plus uncontrollable emotion. I was a bit shamed by my reaction, but then thought that it’s ok for a grumpy woman to behave like an excited pup sometimes. We kept exchanging hugs as if to make sure the meeting was real.
It’s so nice to belong, not just to family, but to friends.
In the meanwhile, I remain as infuriated by and infatuated with Delhi as ever.

that is sooo awesome, you meeting friend (not you throwing up)
I can totally relate to that feeling with a few friends I have made over the years!
Delhi does that to one!
I can see you all overwhelmed meeting your old friend:)
Really! I love that city but it drives me mad in equal measure!
well I’m just glad you didn’t throw up on me
meanwhile bengalooru twiddles fingers and waits..
Chox, I cant wait. Am sure you don’t even know how to twiddle your fingers. This trip is turning out to be super hectic.
Hi Uttara, I can imagine all the excitement of visiting all these place, meeting old friends and new. Sounds like an emotionally fulfilling and exhausting journey
