I loved this piece. Thanks for introducing me to Channu Lal. Had not heard of him before.

MG, is there an online site that you prefer for Hindustani classical music? I would like to go back to listening to that music and was wondering if there is a good site for it.

Channu Lal's Krishna is the first thing I ever heard by him- and I love it, all of it, especially 'koi shyam manohar lo re', which still gives me goose bumps whenever I hear it. Had done a tiny post on him some months ago-here: http://dipalitaneja.blogspot.com/2008/03/chhanulals-magic.html
His rendering of Kabir, especially Amarpur le chalo ho sajna, again in Hamsadhwani, is awesome.
I'm so glad you heard him. I'll try and get the Shiv Vivah.
Abida's Kabir is another phenomenon!
Glad your throat is better:)

I am curious MG, were you able to read that story, the link to which i had sent some days back, 'Love, the only true religion'? It is about a dargah in Hyderabad. And two people of different religions as guru and shishya. I wonder how you felt about it.

like your header... Is it the puja you are doing on Diwali? Is that the Buddha or the Krishna at the top of the shrine? I love your arti thali, it is the same as my granny's...

There is a Buddha and a Krishna...we collected them all in one place for the puja, that's not where I usually keep my altar. Thanks for liking the thali. I thought I had a nicer one, but I couldn't find it. Old fashioned steel is nice in it's own way!

Well - it is not purely classical in the classical sense but MG have you heard Kabir by Abida Parveen ?

It is, very simply put - beautiful !!! :)

No, it's not, it falls in the kajri/ hori/ thumri category which is sometimes referred to as "light classical" though Thumris are quite difficult to sing...I have lots of Abida, love her sufi songs...and like the Kabir ones as well.
